Snowy day. A slippery and pretty one. Woke before the snow, worked on a poem. Swam. It was a rush morning. Get ready for Wave’s holiday show in Newton. Went with my daughter. We ran late, of course, but it was fine. We had seats. Frank came too. Singing and happiness. Wave handed out the cookies I had baked and boxed for his teachers. It was another chock-full day of holiday cheer and holiday prep. The right kind of blend. I decorated the tree and a little one for my daughter and Wave for outside their door on their porch. I made pizzas. I made lists. Checked them twice. Somehow everyone ended up home for dinner, all three kids and Wave and then we had some lovely unplanned family time playing with Wave. That’s the best part of the holidays. So much preparation. But it’s the magic moments of spontaneity that really bring the joy.
