Goodnight Dubrovnik
“Those who seek paradise on earth should come to Dubrovnik and find it.”
~ George Bernard Shaw said
Our third day on the boat; today, late afternoon, we reach the coastal city of Dubrovnik where we spend the afternoon sightseeing and climbing the walled city for spectacular views, learning the history, and taking a luscious swim. Such a hot, hot day in this “city of stone and light.” I was a bit miserable for a time. But we walked and cooled off in the water, changed, walked the wall, and had dinner at a lovey restaurant. A fabulous day––splendid. Tonight, strolling the white stone city as the moon rose and darkness fell around us, in a mass of happy tourists, I asked Frank if he wants to marry me, again. Tomorrow is our 36th wedding anniversary. He said yes. Our boat is parked in the crowded harbor and we are docked next to a party boat, music blaring. They have to shut off the music by 11:00 p.m. thank goodness. We are tucked into our tiny and comfy cabin.
