Korčula is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. It has an area of 279 km², is 46.8 km long and on average 7.8 km wide, and lies just off the Dalmatian coast. Its 15,522 inhabitants make it the second most populous Adriatic island after Krk. The population are almost entirely ethnic Croats.

What is Korcula Croatia known for?

The medieval Korčula Town is widely recognised as being the birthplace of the world explorer Marco Polo. The town has meandering cobblestone streets, cute little shops, and many cafes, bars and restaurants. A walk to the top of the hill will reward you with fabulous scenic views over the Old Town and out to sea.

Just before the boat started moving from our overnight anchor, Frank and I woke up. He went down the kitchen and brought me back a coffee. Open the curtain to the view of the turquoise sea. We were some of the first ones up. A breakfast of conversation, fresh avocado salad and eggs. Dropping in, dropping down into deep relaxation today. Nothing to do but swim and talk and nap and look at the beautiful views and eat. Meals are in the dining room, breakfast and lunch, where there is always pleasant coversation and getting to know the other guests. In the late afternoon we reached Korcula, where we went to the beach, went walking, and then dressed for dinner on the boat, and taxi to the center village for dinner. Sunset over the sea in this ancient village of stone. The views, all day long, of the mountains from the sea––spectacular.
