#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Ice Abstract, Morning Brook

Ahhhhhh, Saturday morning. I wake early and I’m in no rush. Except, yes, there’s a truck in the driveway. The tiler is coming to put some additional tile in our bathroom! It’s 7:00 a.m. and I quickly get ready to let him in. Then, my swim, a busy, crowded pool but I ignore it and enjoy my own slim shared lane and do my mile. Charlie and I walk to the river and brook––to the ice. It’s quite cold and I find some lovely ice. Now is the season I must adjust expectations. I thought I would have at least two hours for poetry revisions today. But instead I got time with Frank picking out more greens. Another, smaller Christmas tree for our new porch, a wreath for the front door, some new hanging plants for the kitchen to block out the view that Frank doesn’t like of our neighbor’s house. I want plants, not blinds. We have compromised. We attend a lovely baby “shower” for a friend. Nice dinner at home and Frank has the holiday music on: acoustic Christmas, setting the mood. So, I am letting go of the idea that I would get writing done this weekend. I do need to get a poem, tomorrow, for Monday’s workshop. The winterized tent for our woods is due any day, and in the late afternoon I walked out with my son to see the spot he has picked out near the river near the campfire spot. We’re all excited to get it set up as soon as it arrives. And the tile is done and looks excellent.
