#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
River Reflection
Frank has put on the fan and opened a window and I have turned off the heat. The rain has brought unseasonable mild weather. The rain has stopped for now. Everything outdoors is soggy. I knew when I saw the weather report this morning that it would impact my evening gathering for my Charles River Writers, our annual readings for friends and family. And it did, but still it was a very special night. The writers are so resilient, and we have all learned how to cope with weather and illness and still meet. So, as the guests who came in person gathered around the table, we had the ones who couldn’t make it on Zoom with us. Frank helped me so much with getting the lights all set up on the trees (two!) and helping me with the food. It was a busy, fulfilling day. Bringing in greens for the mantle, putting the holiday flowers out, hanging the wreath and getting out decorations. Huge progress––I love how hosting a gathering gets the house in order! I also attended my niece’s choral concert with my daughter, and it was so beautiful, just the perfect energy for this rainy, dark day near Christmas. Lovely. And my grandson home. But he has fallen asleep early, so no “yoga” tonight, and I hope he doesn’t wake up on an hour or two missing it! Because I am filled up and tired from a wonderful day.
