River After Rain Storm
This is what I have heard
at last the wind in December
lashing the old trees with rain
unseen rain racing along the tiles
under the moon
wind rising and falling
wind with many clouds
trees in the night wind.
Charlie’s paws so wet from our brief walk in the woods after all the rain. The river is high. The leaves on the ground are puddled. My feet soaked too. Ice is gone in the warm time. I swam without as much energy as I wanted. I was tired today! Because not enough sleep. He did wake up at midnight, crying. Poor thing. I heard him from down the hall, howling. Went in to help my daughter. He had a tick that must have found him during the day when he had been in the woods and my daughter successfully pulled it out. Wasn’t a lyme tick, but made it’s terrible assault. So we got that fixed up and then he wanted some cheering up, so that required some playing until he felt quite over the arm-trauma and I was able to go back to bed. And I helped my daughter by driving him to school which was a nice thing for me. I didn’t make it to poetry workshop; had no poem and the Ukrainian therapist volunteers were meeting so I went there. In the afternoon, wow, I so so so needed a nap and had to prioritize that. Today was the day to set up Wave’s train for the holiday season. My daughter did most of it, bless her. Cannot seem to get caught up on my sleep, so happy to be in bed tonight. Cozy December, and the rain has stopped, and the air is still mild. We heard an owl in the trees tonight.
