#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

The Bather, Playa Palada

The good night sleep. Awake, spontaneously, at 5:00. Just right. The sun not yet up, the house not yet up. Me and Frank. The monkeys, the birds. The peace. By 6:00, heading down, by car with Frank, to the beach for my walk. I let him drive me. He drops me at Playa Guiones. I meet my friend and we have such a lovely walk. It’s not hot yet, there is some shade. The sun is still behind the trees. I realize I want to be up and out early like this in the morning. Beach is quieter. I walk back home, so glad I have risen early to this morning. So much in this day! It’s a working day, by choice, for me. My Ukrainian support group; my session with my poetry mentor, superb; a client; and a break to visit with Frank who has a break and we walk up the street (our dirt road) to the Hotel Lagarta, the cocktail lounge overlooking the sea. It’s empty. We sit and have a smoothy and chat about so much. Walk back, and I have my evening Aim for Astonishing group. My “work” isn’t work. My “work” is my passion. To be with writers, to hear new writing, to respond to new writing, to help writers generate writing, and to share about the process––this is what i love to do in a day and it brings me deep satisfaction, and to the writers I work with, it seems to matter and make a difference. End of day visit with friends, a light meal and lovely conversation with dear friends before bed. I was walking a fairly remote part of Playa Palada on my way home and passed “the bather.” She caught my eye: the serenity of her pose, the serenity of the scene; her lovely aloneness in the morning pool of water from the wide open sea.
