#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Evening at the snowy brook

Yes, there was morning, with Charlie, to the river, after my swim. No ice. Calm, grey, peaceful. A short time out. It was after dinner, after an afternoon of big flakes falling quietly, that I went out, that was exceptional. After a long nap, and no hurry. Such a long time since I could take this kind of a nap. And my daughter and her boyfriend had gotten out mine and Frank’s cross country skiis and gone out. So, I wanted too. It was dark and Charlie and I didn’t need any light. It was black and silent when we stopped at the brook. My first ski of this winter came so unexpectedly. I didn’t need gloves. The cold was stimulating and refreshing. If the sun had been out the snow would have been mushy under my skis. The house lights were on, drawing us back in. Poetry workshop tonight. I brought the poem I drafted last week and didn’t end up going to the workshop. Spent a bit of time today on revision before sending. Got excellent feedback. Now it’s late and Frank is fast asleep and I had a busy day and I’m not too tired. I’m excited. I rehearsed today with two of the actors who are performing monologues in the showcase of my Play Lab tomorrow night. This is such a stimulating and rewarding project.
