#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Charles River Morning
. . . Walk around feeling like a leaf.
Know you could tumble any second.
Then decide what to do with your time.
~ Excerpt from “The Art of Disappearing,” by Naomi Shihab Nye
Today I did so many wonderful things with my time. Mostly, walking the special one to and from his school in the stroller in sunshine in warmth and singing. Mostly, meeting with my Charles River Writers, working together on their poetry, fiction, memoir, nonfiction. Mostly, working on my newsletter for November to get it ready to send tomorrow. Mostly, riding out with Frank from our hotel to get a sandwich nearby and talking so much, so cheerfully, and realizing, suddenly, why this all feels happy, reminding us of the time when we were living in Florida, newly married, parents of a toddler, pre-schooler, working together in our counseling practice, and having our son in a day care next door, and walking him to and from school and sometimes stopping in to see him during the day. Such happy memories. Walking to the river, the second time today, with the special one after school as the blue sky grew pink and the half moon came up and we played in the brown leaves by the edge of the river and through sticks and rocks for Charlie, so happily, until someone got a little too wet and we walked back to the hotel, and there were even firetrucks at a nearby building to enjoy.
