#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Walking by the Charles River this morning, in this sort of new habitat, I saw and heard a lovely abundance and variety of birds, including a heron, who seemed to be following me and a pileated woodpecker in a community garden I stumbled upon. I found a trail on the other side of the Charles and explored around there. It required crossing a busy street with Charlie which was tense, But worth it. No clouds, brilliant sky. I had such a troubled night’s sleep; last night came down with a bug and woke with it still, and canceled my appointments and Frank got me some breakfast. I wasn’t able to walk the special one to school. But I did, finally, get out with Charlie and returned feeling much more clear headed and fresh. Advil helped. And I worked quite productively all afternoon, getting my newsletter written and sent, tackling the chore of writing a 50-word description of my new poetry collection for my publisher. Tough. Such a tough thing, to find those 50 words! I asked some poetry friends for help. Tonight, I read some poems by Lorine Neidecker and that helped me re-look at the new poem I brought last Monday to workshop. I thought I was going to take it apart. But I knew Lorine might help me actually put it together. So I gave it a shot. All the clothes I packed are cool day clothes. Surprised by these summery skies and days.
