#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

“You are living in a poem. . . when you’re in a very quiet place, when you’re remembering, when you’re savoring an image, when you’re allowing your mind calmly to leap from one thought to another — that’s a poem. That’s what a poem does.”

~ Naomi Shihab Nye

Oh, it was an enchanting morning walk. Leaving the quiet house after the noisy departure of the busy ones. Into the quiet of the river’s edge, the woods, vivid, fiery, inflamed. Crossing the trestle bridge over the green-blue-red-gold rippling. Spider webs all over the tall grass in the meadow, dewed and dying. Milkweed, gorgeous friend in every season. Pictures came to me abundantly. Pictures that moved me, that I wanted to save and share. These, in particular. I had a busy day of preparation, and indulged in this beauty and slow, thoughtful, appreciate pace. Indoors, I prepped for my free writing webinar tonight, and for my Charles River Writers tomorrow, and wrapped up the taxes. In the late afternoon, I took the special one into the garden to wander among husks and drying vines and flourishing rosemary and sage plants and plenty, plenty of parsely and some green tomatoes, picked them to ripen on the porch—in fact, ate a delicious one for lunch. Tonight I had a lovely group in my free webinar. Wonderful writing and sharing. And, then I took a short walk up the long driveway in the warm evening under a quite bright half moon. Some painterly wisps of white cloud.
