#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

These cloudy days of April. Beaver, yes. Heron, yes. Mallards, yes. Quiet, yes. Flow of the brook, fast and fresh. A lovely morning walk. Buds coming out on the forsythia and the maple trees. I swam and worked on revising my poem from yesterday. Revised into and out of frustration. So that was good. Prepped for my Tuesday night writers. And the best part of the day: swimming at Kingsbury pool with Wave right after school. Taking Mikey & Squirt with us all the way there from school in the car. Rewinding to our first meeting with them, as Wave often likes to do. Proposes to them that the three of them be brothers. All agreed. Wave said hello to the lifeguard teenager we had not yet met: Katie, this time. And wow! Breakthroughs! We laughed and swam and played for the longest time and then he asked to swim across the deep end of the pool, over his head, from end to end for the first time. And how happy and giddy and proud he was! And me, of him. To see him recognize and assert his own readiness. It wasn’t easy to get him out of the pool today; and that made me happy to see. Katie high-fived him for his accomplishment as we left the pool. I made dinner, chicken marsala, and we sat down together. Tonight, started my Tuesday night group again, and it was really exceptional. The prompt and the writing and the sharing. Wave saw Frank put his arm around me while we were watching him play and said, “You look like you’re about to get married!” Indeed.
