Cultivate an inner stability. . .Don’t lose heart. . . Bon Courage. . . Keep the faith. . . I refuse.
~ Carolyn Forche, in a webinar sponsored by Two Sylvias Press, Jan. 30, 2025
Nature offers us signposts, but they can be difficult to notice unless you are paying attention. Nature’s signposts confirm that you’re exactly where you are meant to be. You may see them over and over again—a type of plant you always seem to spot, a shrub with particularly tasty fruit, or an animal that crosses your path. Every time you see Nature’s signposts, she is reminding you that you are in conversation with her and that you’re going the right way.”

Awake at 4:00 a.m. Wave and my daughter awake. We are all awake. A busy morning begins. I feed dogs and the rooster and Wave. Today I manage to walk over five miles of steps, but not outdoors. I only get out to feed Fudgy. I do get my swim. A little bit of quiet time in the house. Play time with Wave. Housework, packing. No writing again today. But I do get to an online webinar with the poet Carolyn Forche which is very inspirational. She is a major poetic force. I feel revived despite how sleepy I am. Overtired tonight. I will sleep early. Tomorrow I will go out into the wetlands for sure. A necessity. After a good night’s sleep.
