#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Painted Turtle looking for a nest

June, the windows and doors thrown open all day, a lovely breeze. Perfection. Heavy rain last night; all the plants soaking it up. Wave and I go out early. After he has a tough time with his mother learning his new developmental task: pick out his own outfit and get dressed. I wait for him. Then we are very happy in the yard when the tough challenge is over. We walk the property, toward the river, looking for turtles, and fine one! And then another! The second one is in the driveway, a young painted turtle, so Wave carefully moves her back to the grass. Then we find the dead frog in the driveway, and he moves that too, after an examination. I plant and plant this morning, finishing up my garden out front. Then a swim. A little bit of work. The loveliness of the day coming in through the windows. Frank and I run errands, and then I meet the girls and Wave at Farm Pond for the late sunshine and the cool water, the sailboats beyond the buoys. Tomorrow is my mother’s birthday, so I am thinking of her today. And, of course, it’s Father’s Day too––so I am missing both of them, remembering the celebrations we had and how much fun it was to choose, for each of them, just the right gift. And to help my father choose something special for my mom. Strawberry shortcake and lobster, and she was in heaven. I love June so much. Frank and I went out to water, but the garden was still plenty wet from last night’s rain. I love that he loves being outdoors and in the garden as much as I do.
