Tonight, after dinner, I go out near dusk to water some new shrubs before day’s end. A hot one. Frank has mowed the lawn on the tractor with Wave, and then they have planted some more of the unplanted seedlings in the garden, and Wave has watered. I join Frank to walk the yard to the garden to see their accomplishments. The beans have been set in their climbers. The cucumbers put into their box. And Wave has done a fine job of watering. The peas Frank planted Sunday have. begun to eagerly climb. The moon, almost full, is rising above the pine trees in a feathery sky. We are all happily tired from a busy day. Wave only picked at his dinner, so he asked for dipping eggs. We sat at the table and he ate the messy delicious eggs with a toasted croissant. He has a friend, Sammy, that he has played with this afternoon at Farm Pond for the second time in a week. It’s lovely to seem them bond. Wave has a swimming lesson coming up at the club pool, and I had to explain that it won’t be me giving him the lesson, it will be a teacher. He doesn’t understand why I won’t be the teacher. “Will she be wearing a bathing suit?” I assure him she will!
