#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Now, home a week and a half, I have warmed up. Today, the first day I felt back to a normal temperature. And it was very cold and delightfully windy. After my swim I walked Charlie, and the river was bright bright blue and the wind raced across the surface, ruffling it up. The surface like stars in an evening sky. But the cold cut through me and I went in soon after getting a good look of appreciation of the swelling wetlands and their liveliness in the wind. I think the mallards had taken cover; saw no sight of them, heard no noise of them. Today I heard the words in workshop that we always want to hear and hear so rarely about our poems; “Send it out.” I was glad because I have worked hard on this poem and sometimes the hard work ends up working out. So, I make a tweak or two and in the afternoon I sent it out. Today it was Charlie’s turn to go to the vet as he has an eye infection. We got some medicine and it gave me a chance to consult with the trusted vet about Brittany and it seems she really does need to see the cardiologist before anything can be done with her dental surgery. She is a delight and my daughter has fallen in love. Then, Brittany got into a piece of Baker’s chocolate. Eeegads. Well, since she really has no teeth we figured she had licked it a bit, but nothing more. And she was fine after all of the hullaballo. A friendly visit as I was working: I looked up and my youngest and her best friend since pre-school came through the door and that was a nice surprise, to sit with them, and hear them talking about their partners and living situations and all kinds of grown up things. I thought, well, wow. They are really grown up and we’re all talking about the men in our lives! Tonight, after workshop (2nd of today) I took Brittany out. There were stars in the sky like the river this morning. The black river of stars, above and below, framing the day. A bunny nibbled on some treat in the grass. I was glad for the chance to be outdoors in the wind and fresh air at the end of this day.
