#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Brittany posing for Christmas in Suzi’s outfit

A quiet house, a quiet night. Not this morning. It wasn’t quiet, and it was a difficult night’s sleep. Wave came down with a fever, which dissipated by morning. He wanted pizza for breakfast, and I obliged. My seasonal holiday anxiety is acting up. A swim helped. Clearing my head of too many things to think about. I practiced “coming to my senses.” Like, sight, sound, taste, touch. . . and enjoyed my swim, despite it being shorter than I wanted. My daughter had to run to an appointment. I did not walk today. But I walk all day in the house and on errands and let that count. It was wonderful to be at my Israeli support group––we are so cohesive. Afternoon of errands. Two images published today in Cool Beans Lit, their issue on “Yutori,” a theme described by the editor, Lauren Avedis below. Looking at the images tonight I am reminded of the relaxing and uplifting moments they represent. It was a sunny afternoon walk in Kansas City by Brush Creek when I took “Always Land” while in town for the Transformative Language Arts Network Conference. And another fall day, here at home on the Charles where I can always count on my relaxing river to revive my spirt with extraordinary colors and shapes, as in “easy & flow.” Yutori indeed. I wish you some. I do.
