#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

In the morning brook

Some nights of sleep deserve do-overs. Strange dreams. Frank said I was having a disturbed sleep. Oh, well. It was a summery day in the woods. The lily of the valley are in bloom everywhere! Such perfume and tiny beauties. I went for a long walk because the pool is closed while they take down the bubble. I did a short run, as well, and tired poor Charlie out. Today, a day with the special one. An outdoor day, start to finish. Frank left the rest of the prepping of the boxes in the garden unfinished. I worked on raking in the new soil until the special one was sun-drenched and ready for a break. That’s when the hornet, hidden in the grass, attacked his bare foot. Once we got that under control with an ice cube and baking soda poultice, we went to Farm Pond, but he was napping by the time we arrived (four minute drive!) and so we both got a nap in the parking lot until he woke up talking about hornets. We played in the sand, made the Charles River run into Farm Pond with our shovels and pails and played in the water––refreshing, not cold. We had the beach all to ourselves. Luxuriously quiet and peaceful. A lovely Monday in a world made pink with the maple wings everywhere.
