#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Evergreen Snow

What a wonderful feeling, to wake up to normalcy. A good night’s sleep. Awake at 6:00 a.m., ready to start the day. The snowy day ahead. Having the energy for a great swim in the all-by-myself pool. Drove to market for sunflowers and a balloon and other treats to deliver to my birthday girl. What rain all night! And rain turned to snow as I sat at my computer during my Ukrainian group. But not the storm predicted, at all. I thought I might get a ski in, late afternoon, but there was only a half inch covering on the ground. Charlie wanted his walk, and we went to the snowy, black river in the cold and wet and he was happy. She was born late morning, in Dunedin, Florida. My mother came the next day and stayed with us, for what––a week? I was so grateful to have her. I hope I told her how much I appreciated her coming. I remember calling my mother, early that morning, just after dawn, as we drove to the hospital, and she said, I’ll be there the next day, and she was.
