#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Under the trestle bridge
Homecoming. Awake at 6 and the house is quiet. Charlie greets me. Outside the windows two deer have coming up into the yard. They are emboldened and hungry. They want to munch of my rhododendrons, as they do every February. Charlie doesn’t notice them until I open the door and send him out to chase them away. I get to see my daughter before she goes to work. Then Charlie and I walk, a good walk. My son joins me for part of my walk and I get to tell him all about my trip. It’s so warm out! I am not wearing a jacket. The ice has melted in most places. It’s warm, calm, bright and it’s a very smooth transition to be home. My son and I finishi our conversation on the deck before I go indoors. And there! An Eastern bluebird in the yard! Welcoming me home.
