#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Driving in to Harvard Square

One of those mornings of waking too early, too tired. So, I went for my swim early and had the quiet pool, which was really nice. Then a short walk with Charlie. Checked out the tent. Still dry, and the stovepipe is up. The furnishings my son has ordered have begun to arrive and it will be furnished and usable very soon. We have not yet used the stove. He will use the tent for seeing his clients, and we will use it for gatherings of forest bathing ceremonies and meditation and fun. Who knows? It was very delicously quiet and calm outside this morning. And I took a second walk. Wave was looking sleepy after lunch. I suggested I push him around outdoors under a blanket in his carriage––something we haven’t done in a long time, and he took me up on it. So, I bundled him in and we went out. He stayed awake, fighting sleep for about fifteen minutes as I pushed him on the trails, past the tent, under the trees, and finally he dropped off. I thought, I smell January. Even though it’s not very cold and there’s no snow. Sense memory. All day the sky was about 4:00 p.m. It was a low light, short light day. Tonight was so fun. Frank got us tickets for a concert at Club Passim and we took my friend who is visiting and went into Harvard Square for dinner and then the music, which was exceptional. Jimmy Dee. And he had a whole band. And it was bluesy and fabulous in the intimate little venue that Club Passim is. Then we went to the North End for coconut cake and a fun ride into the beautifully lit city at night. Whew! A long and happy day, even though the daylight was muted and short.
