#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
Ice image, Charles River
There are now many many more dinosaurs in all shapes and sizes and voices and movements living in our house. Christmas morning for Wave was a great success, with the whole family in attendance. He woke first, of course. 7:30. So, not unreasonable. But I woke up hard, having not slept well. Within ten minutes all the adults were awake and ready to see if there were any presents under the tree. And, in fact, as he watches a movie in bed beside me tonight, I can say that he has not finished opening all of them. What a lovely day. And a new experience, to have Christmas morning two days before the actual holiday. And not to have to make a Christmas dinner! Breakfast, instead, and we all enjoyed that around the table. Quite, quite cold, and in the late morning I got out for my walk alone with Charlie. Some wonderful ice; but most trails un-passable. The water is high, the trees are down, and trails are blocked. But we went as far as we could, and turned back. In the afternoon, we all piled into two cars and drove to my cousin’s house in Rhode Island for our extended family holiday open house. Me and my siblings and cousins are the elders now. Except my Uncle Norman, 95, who can still make me laugh and laugh. A poignant time; our babies grown up with their own babies. It was a very sweet time all around. Home in the dark to a casual dinner and the dinosaurs. Exhausted, I had a moment of thinking I might go straight to bed; I thought maybe Wave has his new favorite toy and won’t want to do “yoga” with me anymore before bed. So, I crashed for a nap on the couch before going up, but then I heard my name being called by a sweet, young voice: Grammy, it’s time for yoga!
