#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

A lovely relief of sunshine for the final week of October. There are presents from his party still unwrapped and birthday banners and balloons still attached, and new toys, and it’s no wonder he gives a very loud resistance to Monday morning back to school. I go for my swim, a hearty one. As I’m leaving, after my mile, I hear from a lane, “Hi Mom, Hi Kelly!” and my daughter has dropped him off and joined me in the pool. I started tired and ended terrific. Charlie and I walked at Medfield State for some new views. We walked down to the river through all the dead weeds on a deer path. On Saturday I finished How to Say Babylon: A Memoir by : Safiya Sinclair, which was excellent, about a Jamaican-born poet from a strict Rastafarian family whose musician father abused her and how she became an award-winning author from a young age. Yesterday started My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel by: Ari Shavit, a history of the state of Israel, and it’s wonderfully written and compelling, even from the beginning. A day of poetry workshop and revision. I am focused and making progress. Tonight, some naughtiness from the special one who is impatient for yoga while I am still in workshop. And, after that, his very heartwarming apology, and my eagerness to accept it.
