Pickle ball is fun. It’s now, for weeks, our Friday evening fun with friends. I never expected to enjoy it so much. This morning started with a bonus: after my swim, a hike with Wave because he didn’t have school today. Up the steep hill, down the railroad tracks. We had so many talks, so much fun. The day was so bright, sky of delight. A breeze blowing down the golden leaves. I was also a horse giving piggy back rides. We sang songs. We picked up colored leaves and threw rocks. Stopped at the brook and watched the water run under the trail. Returned home to his mom. We’re really really in October now. He knows that his birthday comes, and then my birthday comes, and then Halloween. I love that we share a birthday month. Today the poet Louise Glück died. Today there is so much turmoil in the world to digest. The war in Ukraine rages on and there is too much other dire news competing for attention. Bless all the children who deserve to be protected from harm.
