“Do you imagine the universe is agitated? Go into the desert at night and look at the stars. This practice should answer the question.”
― Lao Tzu

To sleep early, to rise early. Cloudy and cool, lush and green. I walk by the river and over the trestle and into the meadow with Charlie. Frank left early. Just as he left, my daughter arrived home. I had a busy morning, preparing for my Ukraine group, and catching up on my How Pictures Heal course. I felt soooo appreciative of my translator, Lilia, who is such an amazing force of generosity and intelligence in this process. At the beginning of the group, I was about to go in one direction, but she translated a vibe — not what was being said — but what needed to be said, and this shifted the way I opened the group, thankfully. Today we went deeper than we ever have. In the afternoon, I had the grace of a long, much needed nap. To sink into sleep in the middle of the day because I could. No one needed me. I needed not to be needed. When I woke up after two hours I had the energy for more work. Bills, and phone calls, and making dinner. I took a day off from swimming. Not because it rained, but because I needed rest. And how the rain was so pleasant––falling on all the growing things that want to be green. What a wonderful quote from Lao Tzu I came across this morning, and I paired it with a photo I took that I love. I need to meditate and reflect on this quote and this view of the stars, because I want peace of mind with an issue and the peace of mind is possible, reachable, if I let the wisdom of Lao Tzu reach my core.
