As I promised myself, I rose early, 6:00 a.m. I wanted one last walk around Paris. On the early street, it was raining a good rain. I quickly got a bit drenched, but it’s pleasant to be drenched on a Paris morning with time to change and depart in dry clothes. Which we did, this morning. So many many hours ago! Smoothly home. Charlie greeting us in the dark driveway. Suzi greeting us indoors. A very sweet pleasure to drop into my own bed, windows open to the summer humidity and the fresh yard and the gratitude of knowing the river is there in the dark, under the trees, and the snappers will be coming soon onto dry land to lay their eggs.
