#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Charles River Morning

. . . Who shall hear of us

in the time to come?

Let him say there was

a burst of fragrance

from black branches.

~ Excerpt from “Love Song,” William Carlos Williams

Cooler, and the grass dew-wet. In the early sunshine I water the vegetables. Cherry tomatoes and tiny yellow squash have emerged. Will I find a way to plant more vegetables? June is swishing by so fast. Halfway through. I try and notice June a few times a day, to slow it down. To fully realize, wonderful, pleasant summer is here, and appreciate this. I run a critique workshop this morning then stay at my desk struggling over a short essay to go with a group of poems being published soon in a journal. I have a long list of things to accomplish before week’s end. I keep crossing things off my to do list. I had hoped this piece of writing would be complete by now. My idea is coming slowly. I got enough down to take a break in the late afternoon, to finish tomorrow. Trusting I need to sleep on it and hopefully it will write itself tomorrow. I’m pleased to have a poem I wrote after our trip to Costa Rica published today in South 85 Journal, “Nosara,” modelled after the William Carlos Williams poem, Nantucket.

You can read my poem, Nosara, published today in “South 85 Journal” here.
