Colors of the river are changing. There is a time in early spring when the trees seem to beam the fall foliage hues. Especially the maples, budding bright red. I go out early and alone. What sky, this morning. But also cool and muddy. My new poem is circulating in my brain. I take a few notes of new lines. Ultimately, change only one once I get home. And send it off for workshop tonight. A bit of raking in the yard. Some herbs planted for the kitchen in a large planter next to the frog pond. The frogs are up and out, big-eyed and sun-warmed. Good company as I dig and plant and water the basil, rosemary, lavender, and thyme.
