Slept in for the first time here. A stomach ache from something I ate last night. Finally, when I get up, the house is quiet, I’m the only one here. It’s late morning by the time I get down to the beach. I muster the energy for a long walk. Tide is low, the lowest I’ve seen it. The beach is full of families and vacationers, and, of course, surfers. I have the good fortune to have a long, satisfying phone conversation with my youngest while I walk. We get to really connect and catch up and cover a lot of territory. Perhaps I am, for the first time, a little homesick today. I fall in and out of short naps all day, and now, tonight, fall into bed early, so glad to be here. I know I will have my energy back tomorrow. Our group thins out over the weekend. We will be a smaller, intimate group. I hope I will do some writing. I plan to do some writing. After sleep. Sleep first.
