#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Common Fence Point, Rhode Island

Tonight, leaving my daughter’s apartment in Arlington with Frank, the almost full moon shone down with a starlit sky over the freezing land. Such a cold, cold day. A beautiful and frigid day. Poor Charlie. I went to the club for an early swim instead of braving the cold and had a wonderful swim; swam a mile and came home in the freezing air with my wet head in a hat. Did not take him, sad to say, because I thought I’d take him in the warmer afternoon, but then Frank and I went on a ride to see a property he wanted to look at, a summer property, in Rhode Island. Never made it back for Charlie’s walk. A wind like a knife blew through us as we took a look around the property. It was a fun adventure. No time at my desk today. Frank and I cleaned out the den before leaving. We are cleaning and organizing and sorting throughout the house. Years of old bank statements full of dust thrown out! What a pleasure! Books and books and more books culled from shelves and packed for donation. Did not part with my mother’s old recipe books kept in this den, and kept all the children’s books for the special one, of course. The master bedroom suite is gutted now; so strange to walk around on the carpetless floor under the bare rafters with all the belongings that were not thrown out filling the dining room. Frank is thrumming with creative ideas about the plan for building the room back. The custom wood sign I ordered him for Christmas for the property, Riverwoods, arrived tonight and we both love it. We will build back better.
