I overslept. Charlie barked and barked, early at the deer, but I could not wake up. I did not walk, as I woke late and didn’t want to rush. So I took a quick swim and felt that was enough. Today was such a warm day, a busy day, a throw the doors open and let indoors meet outdoors in sunshine and the most amazing clear sky. I looked up, more than once, and felt, this is sky? This is the real sky today? How could sky be this perfectly blue? No wonder all the magnolia are blooming. I rushed a couple of errands to finish my birthday shopping for the youngest, and her family party tonight. In the late afternoon I wrapped and we packed ourselves up into the car and drove into her apartment where she hosted us for dinner in her own place for the first time. A first! Such a rite of passage, for me and Frank to be seated at her table. We bought her take out from the Happy Crab in Somerville, and she picked out her ice cream cake. And then, presents and presents and presents. We bought all the just right things she asked for, and she was especially grateful. She was born on a Wednesday. Twenty four years ago tomorrow. Twenty four years ago today I did not know that tomorrow would be the special day, a new beginning. April, a month of losses of loved ones, finally, transformed, with the joy of this birth.
