In the Morning Wetlands

It is entirely spring now. Evidence abounds. Buds and blooms on every tree and shrub, in every color. I walk to the river, and there is bright grass and greenshowered trees. In the wetlands, a single piece of bark lit up under the layer of water, an orange striplight. I have been cutting my long walks short to stay outside and rake. I clean up leaves and broken branches. Frank is hiring help for later in the week which will be nice. My youngest daughter got her second shot. I wrote a poem from the letters for workshop tonight. Last week and this week, I haven’t been thrilled with these poems. But I’m almost almost through all of them and I am not discouraged. The jury is deliberating. What a weak defence was made. The world waits for a verdict to deliver the justice George Floyd deserves.
