#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Blue Ice Painting.JPG

The change from storm and winter to serene and mild weather, from dark and sluggish hours to bright and elastic ones, is a memorable crisis which all things proclaim.

~Henry David Thoreau

Because it was so surprisingly cold, the ice was wonderful this morning. And I had time to wander in the wetlands appreciating it, looking for wonderful images. The ice was so fresh an original. And I felt rested and optimistic. Another day of good writing indoors. I revised at least two more fairly recent poems and submitted some and felt like I had broken through some resistance. I am still working on endings for two poems that I can’t yet land. Also, I sent out my weekly Aim for Astonishing writing prompt about first signs of spring. Tonight, I was happy to have a Zoom meeting with all my siblings: the five of us saying hello from near and far. We have not been together in person for well over a year. Maybe the summer we will see each other in person again. Only two of the five of us have been vaccinated. It’s difficult to imagine, this idea, of being in the same room again with the people I’ve spent my life with.
