#Newthisday Writing from My Photo Stream

Indoors/Outdoors

“Swimming feels wonderful—almost as good as flying through the air,” Tsukuru explained to Sara one time. “Have you ever flown through the air?” she asked. “Not yet,” Tsukuru said.”
― Haruki Murakami

Theoretically, I wish I would go for a run, but I have a cold and my energy is quite low. I settle for a walk, hoping to find pictures outdoors, but there is a sameness and lack of wonder to the morning. A few bits, scraps of ice forming in the wetlands, but no interesting designs. Charlie is disappointed when I turn back early on. Just couldn’t muster the energy or desire. Strangely, I decide to swim and that is exactly where my energy rises. I swim happily lap after lap for over forty minutes, and this is a very delightful surprise. My geraniums from outdoors are thriving indoors in the windows bringing good cheer in the morning sunshine, the heated room. No writing, but I get some good thinking done, and some planning done, and some laundry done. The summer furniture cushions must be cleaned and put away before the storms bring their wreckage to the porch. Frank builds a fire where I find a delicious nap in a momentarily quiet house.
