#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
No breakfast to make for Wave this morning. So, I was writing my blog. Then my son called. Wondering if I had any pancake mix. Yes! Not only do I have pancake mix, I would be happy to make some! Great, he says. And two eggs, over easy. I am very happy to have a chance to feed my son. And after I serve up the first batch, he asks if I’d mind doing a second. Sweet. Then I go for a brief walk, passing the bright pink patch of hellebores that my friend gave me to transplant when she moved to San Francisco, so even in the rainy gray morning they are a bright attraction. The river and brook are pelted by a light swirl of rain drops. I take a mile swim. I have an unscheduled day and a poem to revise. But I also have time with Frank. Running errands to replace a rug, make a return, and we have fun picking out spring clothes for Wave as a surprise. Easter soon. I work on my revision for a long time. I am not happy with the poem for a long time. I turn a corner with it, finally. Find my way to feeling better. We can bring two poems to workshop tomorrow, which has never happened before, and I have two. Damp day. Maybe a bit of freak snow tomorrow. I hope the hellebores are hearty enough to last a little longer.
This should not be happening:
“We are deeply saddened to report that a school-aged child who was recently diagnosed with measles has passed away. The child was receiving treatment for complications of measles while hospitalized,” Aaron Davis, vice president of UMC Health System in Lubbock, Texas, told CNN in a statement.
“It is important to note that the child was not vaccinated against measles and had no known underlying health conditions,” he continued.
The measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine is the most effective way to prevent the spread of measles, Kennedy said Sunday.
