#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
African Tulip Tree
Hotel wake up, big city view out my window. It’s time for AWP! Jenny and I breakfast at the hotel and happily run into two poetry pals we’ve been connected to for years, Bob Carr & Eileen Cleary, so we have a bit of a reunion breakfast together to start the day which feels so collegial and happy. Then I walk and talk to my Ukrainian friend in DC, and a long connection with Frank who is home. It’s busy around here, at the Convention Center, writers everywhere. Which is fun. I went to five sessions of panels and poetry readings today and all but one were top notch, particularly the Ukrainian-American poets which was a standout. Ran into a number of women writers I know from the International Women’s Writing Guild, including dear Myra Shapiro. A happy and moving day. Dinner in a noisy but fun and delicious restaurant with Jenny. We skipped the evening program, too tired. But I had a great hello over Facetime with Wave, which was a highlight of the whole day, of course.
