#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Waxing Moon

It’s a waxing moon, high in the sky, as I wait outdoors, just before 6 p.m. for the arrival of my youngest and her boyfriend from the airport in Liberia. Ah! And here they are, safe and sound. a little bleary eyed from the all day travel. I welcome and orient them just before running my grandmother writing group online. A new phase of our trip begins. Day started for me with some inexplicable grumpyness. Truly inexplicable. I was just aware of it, and tried to shift it. Pickleball wasn’t as much fun. But we were out in the sun on a court that is too small. I made the best of it. Neither Frank nor I played well. Then I walked home via the beach in the hot sun of the later morning, and I was happier. I sang to myself and I swam in the surf and picked up a shell. It was a long, lovely walk in hot sun. No clients or groups this morning, so I lingered. I took my time. I felt grateful. My grumpiness lifted. It was nothing specific. I did only the littlest bit of writing today; I prepped for my grandmother writing workshop. And it was such a wonderful group. Got excellent feedback which made me feel super appreciated. And the writing and sharing was rich and deep and varied and I come away continuing to believe in the value of this project on grandmother writing. Un-silencing voices, revealing identities and bonds. After group we had time to connect, me and Frank, with Franci and Will and welcome them. Tomorrow I take the whole day off, and through the weekend. I am very much enjoying Jude the Obscure, but I don’t think I read it before. And I’m surprised. If I read it in college I was in a fugue state or something. My journey through Thomas Hardy continues. I won’t want it to end. Tess of the D’Urbevilles the shining best, but truly all of his novels are great. I will listen on the way to sleep.
