Kapok & Hibiscus - Morning Blooms

Such wonderful sleep. A quiet rising. No dogs. No rooster. No Wave. The one I miss. There is a baby in our casa here who is lovely and not my responsibility. I miss the boy and he misses me. It’s a happy/sad situation. Of course I want to be missed. And being missed, want to jump on a return flight. I walked this morning before poetry workshop which happens an hour earlier. The tide was out and the sun was warming up and the shells and beach wrack were lovely. Poetry workshop was very rewarding except my internet fussed around while my poem was being discussed. Ugh. But the comments were helpful, and I think this is a big poem for my manuscript. Such an early draft and there’s a lot I want to do with it. It’s wonderful to have this ongoing support of my process. And I’m going to start working regularly with a poetry friend whose work I admire. We really get each other’s work for manuscripts we are writing and will take a deeper dive with each other. I’m excited. It’s so easy sharing this casa with dear friends. We are all at home with each other. Frank worked all day but I had a break in the afternoon. Then he and I went to our sunset frothy swim. He drove, I walked there, and the tide was high but going out. The waves a little milder than yesterday. The water exquisite. At home the water heater has broken. Because that’s life. There is a shaded path through bamboo and hibiscus and kapok that I take between Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones. I walk barefoot over the dried fronds under the cover of greenery through the red hibiscus blossoms than droop from branches toward the sea.
