Today I could not resist a long ramble in the wetlands in the cold. It was so fresh outside and all the water freezing and bubbling and rippling. I listened to a podcast favorite, This Jungian Life, and the guest was Jungian analyst and author James Hollis, speaking on the theme of the psychology of meaning. And a wonderful sound I heard near my son’s winter tent in the trees, a pileated woodpecker. I looked all over in the trees to spot him/her. I kept walking and later, toward the end of my walk, I found a lovely bird beside me in the bushes, a golden-crowned kinglet with its little yellow and black striped head. I worked on my poetry manuscript, some research. Dinner with Franci and Will in Boston to see the holiday lights before they go. A lovely pace, the after-holiday pace of no rush.
