#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Another quiet wake up in a quiet house. No rush. A chance to look at poems I revised yesterday. I revise more. I swim, a great swim. There is some sun today, and it’s warmer. I go into Boston to meet lovely friends for brunch. Brunch! I am out of the house for the first time in a couple of days. The traffic is okay, the city isn’t too crowded, I walk swiftly and eagerly down Boylston Street. Three hours at least talking and eating! Such a special time, and I don’t do it often enough. Part of our conversation was sharing, one by one, what we are each doing to cope with stress of these political shifts that go against our deepest values. Sharing ideas felt very empowering. Then I drove to Winchester to see my daughter perform with True Story Theater, the Playback Theatre troupe she performs with, on the them on Stories of Standing Up for Others. Wonderful stories told spontaneously by audience members and “played back” by the actors. Hopeful, to be among people willing to stand up for others who are vulnerable or who are being discriminated against or ignored or bullied. There was an excellent turnout for the show in a lovely setting, The Griffin Museum in Winchester, sponsored by the Winchester Network for Social Justice. Then, home to Wave who has a couple of new toys we played with and that made him very happy. It’s nice to have his voice and heart and mind in the house again.
