#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
All day
on their airy backbones
they toss in the wind, they bend as though it was natural and godly to bend,
they rise in a stiff sweetness,
in the pure peace of giving
one’s gold away.~ Excerpt from “Goldenrod,” by Mary Oliver
Wind, one of the defining features of today’s weather. Wind in the meadow, wind on Wasque powering white caps, wind on the pickle ball court blowing the ball out of bounds. And sun, sun in the meadow, sun on our heads as we dipped in the ocean at East beach after pickle. Sun on my back, wind in my hair as I rode the road on my bike to Wasque and back. Wind blowing through the windows as I sat at my computer in the empty house with my Israeli support group members, a refreshing breeze. Wind smelling like September. All the lines on Martha’s Vineyard shortening as the vacationers have gone back to school.
