Moonrise on Chappy

Frank up early to get the first ferry over to Edgartown to go to his morning meeting and play tennis. House quiet, I get up and take Charlie out with Brittany for a short walk. He doesn’t want to go farther, but I do. I want to find my way through trails to the Chappy Ferry. Following a map but mostly my instincts, I do find my way down trails and dirt road to the ferry. It’s overcast and warm. It takes me about an hour to walk to the ferry and back. Now I know my way and show everyone else. It’s the first of many walks I’ll take today. It’s very private and relaxing. A slow pace for everyone today. We go to the beach in the afternoon and catch the little bit of sun there is. The dogs are with us and happy in the sand and surf and the fun of all being together. I take a swim in the surf with Lilia, and the waves are not high, the water is cool. Everyone pitches in on dinner, and then some of us walk the trails to the ferry after dinner, under the rising moon. We cross to Edgartown for ice cream. It’s dark, the lights are lovely looking from Chappy to Edgartown. Return ferry, and my son has partked a car there so we can make the short drive home instead of walking the trails in the dark and running into the skunks who are out at night. Tomorrow night the moon will be full. We are all happy to be together.
