#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Tonight, from the garden, after leading my group, the moon is a sliver in the sky. The lightning bugs are lighting the field. The sunflowers are soaked by the hose, and all the vegetables too, even the beans that someone has been nibbling at night. The yard is quiet. Frank is asleep; Wave is not yet home with his mother. Charlie stayed indoors, and Brittany too. I don’t feel like going out to water, I want to go to bed; once I am out and smelling the smells of the herbs and the wet dirt in the cool air I don’t want to go inside. But, the garden is watered, and i do go inside. Day started early; left with my husband and daughter for Western, Mass, well prepared. Early there to set up for the slideshow and the tables. Soon my sister and aunt and brother and all the family and friends arrived, and it was a very special service. Flawless. And my aunt was very happy. Deeply emotional, in a positive way. We said goodby to my uncle Bob in a most meaningful way. Driving home in the car with Frank and Franci, tired, a little deflated, it began to sink in. The past six months of caring for Uncle Bob, the move, and the next move, and supporting them both, that part is behind us. Aunt Dottie is doing well in her new home. Missing Bob, of course, but liking where she lives and coping well with a lot of support. Her multiple calls to all of per day for months were because of Bob, her concern for taking care of him. Now she will take care of herself, and continue giving her effervescent love and attention to others. I am very proud of the Celebration of Life that we gave him. And tired, and ready for sleep.
