#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
I am happy to wake up in my own bed, to feed Charlie, to spend time with my grandson, helping him get ready for school. I swam my mile, then took Charlie into the woods. I passed a man in a maroon sweater and orange hat moving a tree from across the trail. He had just finished! Turns out he works for the Trustees of Reservations, and he spends his day on the trails keeping them clear. He had no saw, nothing electric. Just his hands and his ingenuity and patience. He used a log to create a lever and moved a massive downed tree. We had a very nice chat about his work, his happiness, his love for the land. I told him about my son and his interest in forest bathing and his tent and took his contact information because I knew my son should meet him. And my son has already contacted him to get together this weekend. I was ten minutes late to poetry workshop, but it was worth it. We had a really special encounter, and I was glad to thank him and appreciate his work for all of us who enjoy these trails. Poetry workshops framed my day and I got help with a poem that needs work. Picked my grandson up from school and spent the afternoon with him playing outdoors, at Farm Pond and in our garden having sword fights with Sunflower stems pulled from the ground. Quite tired tonight. Ready for rest.
