#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream
When a poem speaks by itself, it has a spark and can be considered part of a divine conversation...
~ Elaine Equi, excerpt from “National Poetry Month”
Easter morning, a first thought, coming to consciousness, even though it has become an entirely secular day for me and very low key. Still, I cannot help but hear the hymn being sung in many churches this morning: Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia! Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia! Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia! And I let my thoughts go to what the day does mean to me now. It means breakfast for Brittany, who has a new lease on life. Brittany who is losing weight and running up and down stairs that we had to carry her up and down when she first arrived. And it means how my aunt and uncle have found safety in a new home that they let us help them move to. And I have a long talk with my aunt today. Today I am one who received upwards of seven or eight calls, but I have one long conversation, walking her through all the changes, and with my uncle, helping him realize he is in his new home and has nothing to worry about. And thanking them for trusting us to help them with their affairs, I love to hear my uncle gently laugh with relief when I say everything is okay, we’re taking care of it. My Easter was a long walk with my son and Charlie where we kept talking and talking and we both had so much to say to interest each other. And my Easter was picking up Wave and surprising him with an Easter basket of treats before dinner. Frank cooked and all of us were at dinner and it was lovely. And on the way home in the car, from the back seat, he told me he wished I had been in his dream when the King of the Coyotes came, and where was I, he asked, and I said I must have been in a different dream of my own, and next time, I will hear his call and I will fly into his dream and together we will deal with the coyote king. Andy my aunt and uncle say that I am a dog lover, and they wouldn’t just let Brittany go to anyone, but if I will have her, they’d like Brittany to be with me.
