#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

Charles River Morning

What I needed this morning, so much, for my spirit, was a photo. After my swim, with Charlie in the woods before I went to an appointment, I found one in the rain. This early part of autumn in the rain doesn’t distinguish the joyful light that comes, even in rain, through the play of leaves in color on water. Such a dreamy and nourishing light. I was so grateful for how it worked into my unrest and irritability. Not a sure, but a balm. And the day brought a beautiful experience: my youngest planned a story time and an apple tasting gathering for Wave and a whole host of new friends we’ve been gathering from Farm Pond and the playgound, and our neighbors and others. So many children in the house! Not the yard, because of the rain, but it was such a treat to host these parents and children. And Frank came out of his office, done for the week, and I knew how happy he would be too, because he held all the babies, of course, Every single toy in the house, and there are far too many, of course, was used and spread through all the downstairs rooms. So many great conversations. And everyone stayed and stayed. And then, how easy the clean up was––three of us had it quickly cleaned up. The house continues to be a gathering spot for children. That makes us very happy and fulfilled. Tonight, pickle ball with our gang and dinner after. These special experiences, and the light of the trees on the river in rain have given my spirit exactly what it needed.
