#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

The wetlands

And still it rains, tonight, windows closed, the pelting. I have enjoyed the rain today. I have been out in the rain, making my peace with fall. First, a great swim at the indoor pool. And then took Charlie out on the puddled trails in my flip flops. Today I decided was about thank you. Thank you to summer. Gratitude for summer and a welcome to fall. The shoes must come on. The trees and plants must die or become dormant. I am letting go and bringing body mind spirit into this season. The wetness of the wetlands was lovely, really, all the shine of the colored leaves in the puddles. I had a poetry workshop in the morning and the evening, brought the same poem, got different feedback, and I am glad and grateful for all of it. Making dinner with Frank, we laugh. We are watching the Bear. Me for the millionth time as he has finally engaged with it. This show makes being in the kitchen together more fun. Teased each other. Laughed. Hugged. A nice dinner by the fire. It’s dark earlier. We linger at the table. The rough weather outside making it nicer to be inside. And, I did go to the pond today! Not to swim, actually, but took my grandson in the afternoon. It was very damp, cool, cloudy, rainy. And we played anyway. Digging holes, having races. He got in the water but I didn’t. I just sat there in the wet sand playing with him and being grateful for the summer days we had and being grateful that we could also be there having fun in this fall weather. I am happy tonight for this full and rich and rainy autumn day, indoors and out.
