Writing from My Photo Stream ~ Kelly DuMar

#NewThisDay Writing From My Photo Stream

No rush out the door. Achy and tired. I have some writing to do; Charlie is patient. Late morning, I feel ready. It’s nice and warm and sunny, just as I like it. The house has been quiet in a nice way. The lily pads are ripe with flowers, as usual. I stop by the garden before going back in, to check on everything, and the butterfly bush is alive with butterflies. Four or five, fluttering in the purple flowers! The garden is magic. My poem from yesterday survives. I read it over. I get some e-mailing and organizing for my week accomplished. But I’m sleepy and can’t have the energy to generate one more poem I feel the manuscript needs. So, I get up and move around and I’m less sleepy. Getting unpacked, finishing up! My daughters and Will and I bike to Farm Pond for a swim. My first time there in a couple of weeks. Beach is crowded, and I dive into the water, it’s refreshingly cool and fresh from all the rain. I’m surprised I’ve found the energy to bike and swim, and grateful. And, to make a nice dinner, a family dinner that makes everyone happy. Fresh tomatoes and a bounty of green beans I picked today; corn on the cob brought home from Morning Glory Farm in Edgartown. We have been so bountiful in tomatoes. My pumpkins are thriving, except something is nibbling one of my lovely green striped beauties. Ach! The evening is inviting. I water the tomatoes and pumpkins before going with Frank and Will to get ice cream. Bring home the treats for one and all. We take Frank’s Mustang with the top down and I sit in the back with Charlie who is so happy to be in the car he loves. No Suzi beside him, as in so many years past. But he seems happy to have me. Windows open to the evening. Frank has mowed the front and back lawns; sweet smell of cut grass.
