In the Pumpkin Patch

Home. Home in the garden. Home in the garden with my grandson across the grass that is wet. The sunflowers are getting tall. There are tiny eggplants on the vine. There is a pumpkin! The pumpkins are overtaking the garden! We will have pumpkins for Halloween! There are tomatoes, a few ripe, and so many many more ripening. And a cucumber, and more to come. And monarchs! There are butterflies in the garden! I had a happy day being home, with meetings, and busy times, but really got a lot from my poetry mentor, and then gave a lot to a writing mentee. Monday night, dinner at the house of dear friends, and my friend has arrived to stay over and we go for our swim in the pond, to the island. And we look at her old house on the water and we’re happy to be swimming together. I needed to bring something to the party and Franci helped me: she baked the most delicious and beautiful zucchini breads with chocolate chips and coconut glaze. A big hit. Tonight I am quite tired and bleary eyed and falling asleep as I write.
