Dogwood Blossom
. . . The leaves you show uncurl like tiny fists
and bear small button blossoms, greenish white,
that quicken you. Now put your roots down deep;
draw light from shadow, break in on earth’s sleep.
Excerpt from “Planting a Dogwood,” by Roy Scheele
I am always so happy to see the wild dogwood trees in Rocky Narrows that grow in the meadows in bloom, as I did today. A day of no clouds, a day of Mass. Poetry, a day of friends on panels about poetry, and feeling inspired by the energy and generosity of Mass. Poetry putting on an in person festival again. So many writers and lovers of poetry on the streets of Salem, MA!
